How many standard licenses to buy?
of SQL server 2005.
But the win2000 server has TWO processors
- one processor for sql2005, binds the sql2005 to CUP0 only.
- one processor for sybase asa 9.0 db, bind it to CUP1 only
The question is should we purchase ONE MORE processor license even sql2005
utilities ONE processor only'Licensing questions are best answered directly by Microsoft. From the SQL
Server 2005 Licensing FAQ:

Q. Do I have to acquire licenses for all of the processors in a server?
A. You have to acquire licenses only for processors that are accessible to
any copy of the operating system upon which SQL Server 2005 is installed. In
a virtualized environment, processor licenses are required for every
processor that is accessed by a virtual machine. Please see the
virtualization licensing brief and virtualization white paper for more
information on how to license under a virtualized environment.

How many Mobile DB's can sync with one server?
Hi,
I'm in the planning stages of a new application and upper mgmt needs this question answered. I am planning to use SQL Mobile 2005 on the hand held devices and SQL Server 2005 as the server. What kind of hardware/configuration do I need that would allow 500 mobile devices to sync at roughly the same time? Any reccomendations on design issues is also welcome.
The business community is all on the same schedule and past experience shows that that do things in large groups. I need to plan for the worst case. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
SQL Mobile is capable enough to handle 500 devices syncing concurrently. Many customers are using much more than thousand devices in the similar scenario. Please check out our page http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/sqlmobile/default.mspx. we have lot of information there. Please let us know about your specific needs or any question you have, we will be glad to address them.
Thanks
Sachin

How Is This Technology deployed?
I am planning to use this technology as a foundation. No, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition does not include Integration Services. Workgroup Edition contains a subset. Standard Edition includes all the features of Integration Services except certain transformations, destinations, and wizards related to Analysis Services and text and data mining, which are in Enterprise/Developer only. Please see the BOL topic "Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2005" for more info.
