Excuse the newbie question. I know that SQLE has a limit of 4g on the size of a DB. Can you have multiple DBs?
We currently support our small customers on JET. They have large projects with seismic data. It can add up to bigger than 4G quickly if you are talking multiple projects. Can we support them with SQLExpress and each project can live in it's own DB?
Our bigger customers have SQL or Oracle servers.
We are moving away from JET. We are evaluating Oracle XE and SQL Express. OXE has a 4G user data limit.
Hello Eddie,
Yes. You can have multiple DBs per instance of SQL Express! I think that 32,767 dbs per instance and until 50 named instances per machine.
This limitation of 4GB is per data file only (not including log files).
|||One correction, SQL Express supports 16 named instances, not 50. The higher Editions of SQL 2005 support 50.

Thank you both for your information. You may consider revising your fact sheets to reflect this. On paper SQL Express seem to offer no advantage to Oracle XE. However for our customers and the large size of their data sets it turns out the Express is our only viable option.
You guys KILL Oracle XE on this. You should trumpet that from every where you can!!!
