How long should a backup take ?

Backups suddenly went from about 20 minutes to 2 hours. W2K Server, 6gb, 4 1.9 P4 processors, SQL 2000 Enterprise Edition, SAN, 52 gb database. Backup is during off hours with little contention.Where are the backups going? Is it a network drive or a local array? You
should also check to be sure there isn't a failed drive in the array.

You might want to check to be sure they didn't reconfigure the SAN about
that same time. Can you copy a file of that size to the same location with
better results? There isn't much to a full backup that would cause slow
downs other than bandwith issues.
